The Raven (Poe),

“Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,

Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—

While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,

As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.

“’Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door—

            Only this and nothing more.”

Ghouls, ghosts,  goblins, zombies, and Creepy Clowns  sadly have had little scientific research with good research methods This year what is most feared in creepy clowns (when did Clowns turn bad?). We need to run fast to out distance these so that we do not get eaten, “it is this, or nothing more”.

We do have a way to combat the raven, and or creepy clowns with books, statistics and knowledge.  For example, there were 107,000,000 billion people who have ever lived. There have been only 51,000 ghost sightings.  It appears that you only have .04% chance of rising from the dead to become a ghost. There has been a hypothesis that not only could people rise from the dead, but also through séances we could talk with relatives in the afterlife.  There has only been one scientific study on this by Houdini, which suggested suggesting that we could not communicate with him when he died. The problem of this study is that the sample size was 1, not having enough power.  One could also generate the hypothesis that indeed it is possible to collaborate with the after life, but those who have died have no means of communicating. To test this hypothesis a randomized trial is in order, and we will be applying to NIH.  The concept is simple, to randomized people who have died, and put a cellphone with my phone number in half of the pockets.  Ahh, the wonderful possibility of research methods and statistics to solve the problem of  the epidemiology of fear, of Halloween.  “Only this and never more”

Clearly improve statistical literacy in the world will reduce the fear of ghost, and probably goblins and the scariest of all, stataphobia

Dr. Serageldin and his team at the library of Alexandria, and our team is in the process of sharing research methods knowledge in Africa and Arab countries through the Library of Alexandria.  BA Euclid is now in the Mediterranean with 5000 statistical books from very generous statistics experts world wide.  When they arrive, the scientists of the world will have created in only 7 months the largest virtual and book library in the world.  In doing the sun of the Library of Alexandria science will rise again after 2500 years. Thanks so much.

The BA Euclid RMLA soon will be available to the world
